Eco-Tours

Plan a two-hour, half or full day to learn about mangroves, sea grass, and corals. Ask questions, wonder, and discover. Find out why we should care about the knotty tangle of mangroves that line our coast and comprise the islands of the Florida Bay. Understand the importance of the abundant and fragile sea grass that carpet the Bay and near shore ocean floor. Let Captain Xavier or Elizabeth make connections between the coral reef and the Florida Bay and learn how the ecosystems rely on one another.

Wind through the skinny water of the Florida Bay and keep an eye out for the pink flash of the roseate spoonbilll or look for a collection of the dainty white ibis that sport a comical coral beak. For even more wildlife diversity, plan for a longer day to head back in to the Everglades National Park, where you might see crocs, alligators, and bald eagles!
